FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Russell Jeffrey Design cards different from cards you'd find in a store?
Every card we sell is genuinely handmade by a husband-and-wife team in Canada. Each design begins as a hand-drawn sketch, is brought to life through graphic design, printed in-house on premium heavyweight cardstock, and then individually hand-embellished with crystal gem accents — placed one by one using tweezers and pressed down by hand. No two cards are exactly alike.
Are the cards really handmade?
Yes — entirely. Each card is designed, printed, cut, and hand-jewelled right here in Canada. The gem embellishments are applied individually by hand, which means every card carries its own subtle variation. While the designs are reproduced, the hand-finishing ensures that each card is, in its own way, one of a kind.
How did Russell Jeffrey Design get started?
It began with a Bat Mitzvah. Our dad designed a custom invitation for our sister's Bat Mitzvah, and from there, word spread. For several years, the business focused on custom Bar and Bat Mitzvah invitations and wedding stationery. Over time, that passion for design and personal connection evolved into what Russell Jeffrey Design is today — a handmade greeting card company with a particular love for Judaica and a commitment to cards that feel like keepsakes.
Who makes the cards?
Every card starts with her sketchbook. As the creative heart of Russell Jeffrey Design, she dreams up each design and brings it to her husband, who transforms it into polished digital artwork — then he prints and cuts every card in their Canadian home. From there, it's back to her, hand-placing each crystal gem one by one with tweezers until the card glimmers just the way she envisioned. Together, this husband-and-wife team — and proud parents of two daughters — have built a card company that's as personal as the cards themselves.
What are the cards made from?
Each card is printed on premium heavyweight 110 cardstock and paired with a crisp white envelope. The cards are individually hand-embellished with crystal gem accents and packaged in a protective plastic sleeve to keep them pristine during shipping and on retail shelves.
Do you offer customized cards?
We no longer offer customization for individual orders. However, if you're a business interested in a custom card design related to your brand or company, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out at rjgraph@rogers.com to start the conversation.
Where do you ship, and how long does it take?
We ship across North America. Orders typically arrive within 3 to 7 business days, depending on your location and order size. All cards are carefully packaged to ensure they arrive in perfect condition.
What if my card arrives damaged?
We stand behind every card we send. If your order arrives damaged, we'll exchange it or provide a full refund — no hassle. Just get in touch, and we'll make it right.

Why Handwritten Cards Are Making a Comeback (And Why They Matter More Than Ever)
In a World Full of Notifications, We’re Craving Something Real
Texts. Emails. DMs.
We’re more connected than ever—but somehow, it feels less meaningful.
A quick “thinking of you” message gets buried within minutes. A birthday text disappears between notifications. Even heartfelt messages lose their impact when they arrive the same way as a discount code or calendar reminder.
And that’s exactly why something unexpected is happening:
People are going back to handwritten cards, and ours leave enough room for you to write as much or as little as you want!
The Problem With Digital Messages
Let’s be honest—digital communication is convenient, but it’s also forgettable.
- Messages get lost in crowded inboxes
- Notifications come and go in seconds
- There’s nothing to hold onto
Even when the words are meaningful, the experience isn’t.
There’s no pause. No presence. No memory attached to it.
Why Handwritten Cards Feel So Different
A handwritten card slows everything down—in the best way.
It’s not just about what you say.
It’s about how it’s received.
When someone opens a card, they don’t rush through it. They:
- Hold it
- Read it carefully
- Feel it
And most importantly… they keep it. Especially ours! We have been told time and time again that our cards are so beautiful that some people have purchased them to keep and frame for themselves!
That’s something digital can’t compete with.
A Shift Toward More Intentional Living
We’re seeing a growing shift toward intentional living—choosing depth over convenience.
People are:
- Spending less time on social media
- Focusing more on meaningful relationships
- Looking for ways to show up more thoughtfully
Handwritten cards fit perfectly into this shift.
They’re simple, but they carry weight.
Why More People Are Choosing to Send Cards Again
1. Our Cards Stand Out Instantly
Everyone sends a text.
Almost no one sends a card.
That alone makes it memorable.
2. Our Cards Turn Moments Into Keepsakes
A message on a screen disappears.
A card becomes something you:
- Display on your counter
- Save in a drawer
- Revisit years later
It’s not just communication—it’s a memory and a sense of nostalgia.
3. Our Cards Feel More Personal
In a world of copy-paste messages and automation, handwritten words feel real.
Even a short note feels more meaningful when it’s written with intention.
4. They Make Everyday Moments Special
The most meaningful cards aren’t always for big occasions.
They’re sent:
- After a hard week
- During a life transition
- Or simply “just because.”
Those are the ones people never forget.
A Small Effort That Makes a Big Impact
Sending a card doesn’t take much.
But the impact? It lasts.
It tells someone:
- “I thought about you.”
- “You matter!”
- “You’re worth the time.”
And in today’s world, that kind of message stands out more than ever.
A More Thoughtful Way to Connect
As a small business creating beautiful keepsake cards, I’ve seen this shift firsthand.
More people are choosing cards that feel:
- Minimalist and elevated
- Personal but effortless
- Designed to be kept, not tossed
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about sending a message.
It’s about creating a moment.
Don’t Wait for a Special Occasion
You don’t need a birthday, holiday, or milestone.
If someone is on your mind—that’s your reason.
Some of the most meaningful cards start with:
- “I’ve been thinking about you.”
- “Just wanted to check in.”
- “You’ve been on my heart lately”
Simple words. Lasting impact.

The Best Greeting Cards in 2026: Unique, Handmade & Memorable Options
When it comes to meaningful moments, the right greeting card can make all the difference.
But with so many options available—from mass-produced cards to handmade designs—finding the best greeting cards isn’t always easy.
In this guide, we’ll break down the best types of greeting cards you can buy in 2026, what makes them stand out, and where to find truly memorable designs.
What Makes a Greeting Card “The Best”?
Not all greeting cards are created equal. The best ones share a few key qualities:
1. They Feel Personal
A great card should feel like it was chosen specifically for the recipient—not picked up last-minute.
2. They Have Visual Impact
Design matters. Unique textures, embellishments, or artistic details instantly elevate a card.
3. They’re Worth Keeping
The best greeting cards don’t get thrown away—they become keepsakes.
4. They Match the Moment
Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, the card should reflect the importance of the occasion.
Types of Greeting Cards (And Which Is Best)
Mass-Produced Greeting Cards
These are the most common cards found in big-box stores.
Pros:
- Affordable
- Easy to find
Cons:
- Generic designs
- Often discarded quickly
Best for: quick, last-minute needs
Printable / Digital Cards
A growing category, especially for convenience.
Pros:
- Instant delivery
- Budget-friendly
Cons:
- Less personal
- No physical keepsake
Best for: long-distance or urgent situations
Handmade Greeting Cards ⭐ (Best Overall)
Handmade cards stand out for their craftsmanship and emotional impact.
Why they’re the best:
- Each card feels unique
- Higher-quality materials and details
- Often designed to be kept, not tossed
- Show more thought and intention
Many handmade cards include special touches like hand-applied embellishments, textured finishes, or artistic details you won’t find in mass-produced options.
Best for: meaningful occasions and people who matter most
Where to Buy the Best Greeting Cards
Online Marketplaces
Platforms like large handmade marketplaces offer a wide range of styles from different creators.
Good for browsing variety—but quality can vary significantly.
Specialty Greeting Card Brands
Boutique brands are often the best choice if you’re looking for something truly unique.
For example, Russell Jeffrey Design focuses on handmade, hand-embellished greeting cards designed as keepsakes rather than disposable cards.
Each design features carefully applied details, making it feel more like a small gift than a traditional card.
Local Artisan Shops
Supporting local creators can also lead to more meaningful finds, especially if you’re looking for something handmade.
Why Handmade Greeting Cards Are Growing in Popularity
In 2026, more people are moving away from generic cards and choosing something more intentional.
Here’s why:
- People value quality over quantity
- There’s a growing appreciation for handcrafted goods
- Cards are increasingly seen as part of the gift—not separate from it
A thoughtfully chosen card can elevate even a simple gift into something memorable.
How to Choose the Right Greeting Card
When selecting a card, ask yourself:
- Is this something they would keep?
- Does it feel unique or meaningful?
- Does it match the importance of the occasion?
If the answer is yes, you’ve likely found a great option.
Final Thoughts: Choosing a Card That Stands Out
The best greeting cards aren’t just about words—they’re about impact.
While mass-produced cards are convenient, handmade greeting cards offer something far more meaningful: originality, craftsmanship, and lasting value.
If you want your message to truly stand out, choosing a unique, handmade card is one of the simplest ways to make a lasting impression.
